We are all aware that home energy

costs are rising at an alarming rate

We can reduce your home heating bills by ensuring your heating system is working at its peak of efficiency.

Roughly 50% to 60% of your total home energy bill, gas and electricity combined, is the cost of heating your home and providing hot water.

A boiler that is not serviced, or one that is serviced incorrectly, can lead to an expensive and unnecessary consumption of extra energy. Simply put, just like a poorly maintained motor car is less fuel efficient and less mechanically reliable, so is your gas boiler if neglected.

On Thursday 3rd of February 2022, Ofgem announced that the energy price cap will rise by 54% from April 1st. This means that millions of households will see their home energy bills rise by £693 to a whopping £1971 per year.

Of this new total, around £1000 could be the cost of heating alone.

By ensuring your heating system is in tip top health, you can mitigate the amount of fuel you use.

So, how much could you be wasting?

Every boiler manufacturer has published service instructions outlining to the engineer what should be done each year to keep each particular make and model working at its very best. These instructions are commonly referred to as the “MI’s”.

By not keeping your boiler serviced in accordance with the MI’s, you will see your fuel consumption increase each year your boiler is left un-serviced.

Another plus is that a well serviced boiler is far more reliable, and statistically much less likely to require expensive and inconvenient repairs.

By having your boiler properly maintained each year, you’ll save quite a lot more than the service fee in gas savings and avoided breakdowns.

According to a study by Which? magazine, an un-serviced boiler is twice as likely to break down than a boiler that is properly maintained.

Another cause of fuel waste is the build-up of black oxide sludge in your radiators and pipework. By reduced circulation and therefore increasing the boiler workload to heat your home, you could be using 10% to 30% more gas than necessary.

What do we do to save you money?

During the very first service we carry out for you, your engineer will follow all the procedures recommended by the manufacturer for your model of boiler.

Using the very latest in digital flue gas analysis, your boiler will be checked to ensure gas pressures are correct and that gas is burning efficiently.

Just like your car will return better miles per gallon if properly maintained, your gas boiler will similarly use less fuel if in peak working order.

Also, at the time of the first service, a cleansing solution will be added to your heating system. This doesn’t in any way affect or come into contact with your hot tap water but does gently break down the oxide sludge deposits inside pipework, radiators and the boiler heat exchanger.

By reducing any unnecessary restrictions to circulation, your whole system will perform better and be less costly to run.

On the second year service, we will drain and flush your system and then add another treatment, an inhibitor, to help prevent the recurrence of oxide sludge deposits.

Moving forward, on every successive service we will top up the inhibitor to maintain system performance.

There’s no contract and no catches, we simply aim to keep you as a customer by you seeing the benefits in reduced heating bills.

Sound great, but what does it cost?

For just £90 a year, we’ll keep your heating system working at its peak of efficiency. This includes the thorough yearly service, the system treatment to combat oxide sludge and a Homeowner’s gas safety certificate each year.

Better still, if you decide you’re happy with us and want us back every year, we will offer you a fixed price package that guarantees no price increases for at least 5 years – still without any contractual commitment on your part.

No small print, no catches, no nonsense.

An annual boiler service is essential for keeping your boiler running smoothly and safely. Our 2021 boiler reliability survey of 8,001 boiler owners found only around three in 10 boilers that are serviced annually have needed a repair in their first six years. This doubles to around six in 10 boilers if the boiler is only serviced every two to five years.

So, spending a bit of money on a boiler service could potentially spare you a huge repair cost in the future, as well as giving you peace of mind.

Your boiler plays a central role in your home and not having an annual service can impact its performance, make your home unsafe and increase your energy expenses. Gas boiler services are regularly overlooked leaving you at risk of damaging your boiler whilst having a negative impact on the environment.

As part of your annual gas boiler service, your Gas Safe registered engineer will check that your boiler is running efficiently, which can save you money over time. Improving your boiler’s efficiency and having a regular service can prevent soot from accumulating, thereby enabling the boiler to run smoothly, which reduces fuel consumption. This will allow you to keep energy costs low, whilst reducing environmental impact and your carbon footprint.

Around four in 10 people don’t get their boiler serviced annually – increasing the risk of it developing a dangerous fault, such as a carbon monoxide leak.

An annual boiler service also means your boiler is less likely to develop a fault, according to our research. Plus, it will be significantly cheaper than waiting for your boiler to break and then paying for an expensive repair.
